ITIN Application Guide

ITIN numbers are INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS, used by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the US. ITINs are issued by the IRS to individuals who do not have a Social Security Number (SSN) and need to file tax returns in the US – often from overseas.

A Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA) is authorised by the IRS to assist individuals in obtaining ITIN numbers – www.certifyingacceptanceagent.co.uk

CAAs are able to make certified copies of your ID documents and can issue W7 forms.

W7 forms are officially known as the W7 Certificate of Accuracy. When the CAA completes the W7 form, they’re giving the IRS some confirmation that you are who you say you are – meaning that you don’t have to send your original documents to the US.
